Died:
- St Albans, VT - On Thursday, November 23, 2023, Robert Michael Neudecker passed away peacefully at the age of 87 with his children by his side at the McClure Miller Respite House in Colchester, VT.
Robert, or Bob as many knew him, was born in Appleton, Minnesota to Joseph and Evelyn (Tait) Neudecker. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Minnesota in 1959 and went on to work at IBM for most of his career in public relations in the tech industry.
Bob married Helen Mracek in 1962. During their 58 years of marriage, they lived in New York, California, and finally Burlington, Vermont. Bob was the proud father of his daughters Elizabeth and Mary, along with four grandchildren - Gabrielle, Emma, Robert, and Jiliu.
Bob described himself as a lifelong learner. In recent years, he took enormous pleasure in learning many languages including Spanish, German, French, and Chinese while immersing himself in master classes in physics and microbiology. In his final year, he took great joy in pursuing his love of music by taking weekly beginner cornet lessons. His curiosity will be a reminder and inspiration that it is never too late to learn something new.
Bob?s connection to his six brothers and sisters ran deep. While distance kept them physically separated most of the time, the time they spent together as adults during ?Sibs Week? gatherings meant the world to him.
Bob enjoyed keeping up with friends, family and loved ones in Vermont, Minnesota, and Florida. His very dear friend, Gretchen Mahigan, filled his heart in his later years.
Robert is survived by his daughters, Liz (Ted) Gamache and Mary Neudecker; grandchildren Gabrielle (Jordan Deso) Gamache, Emma Neudecker, Robert Gamache, Jiliu Neudecker, and the extended Gamache Family. He is also survived by sisters Mary Schouviller, Joan Neudecker, Maggie Cedarberg; and brothers Mike and Leo (Linda) Neudecker.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph, and mother, Evelyn; wife Helen; sister Dorothy Tucker; and Gretchen Mahigan.
Services will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Cremation Society of Chittenden County, a division of the Ready Family. To send online condolences to the family, please visit cremationsocietycc.com.
