Donald J. Stubbs, 88, of Windsor, beloved husband of Virginia H. (Boisvert) Stubbs passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Hartford Hospital. Born June 21, 1932 in Providence, RI son of the late John and Mary Regina (Flanigan) Stubbs. Donald grew up in Rhode Island; he graduated from LaSalle Academy and then earned his undergraduate degree from Providence College in 1954 in conjunction with the ROTC program when he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army. While serving during the Korean War he was stationed at Ft. Huachuca in Arizona. On February 19, 1955 he married Virginia and earlier this year they celebrated 65 years of marriage. After he proudly served his country he and his wife moved to Connecticut where he began his career with Pratt & Whitney. In 1966 he earned his MBA from University of Connecticut. Donald's loving demeanor and kind spirt were felt by all who were so fortunate to be part of his life. Besides his wife Virginia, he is survived by his six children, MaryEllen Gamache (John), Paul Stubbs (Sarah), John Stubbs (Melissa), Robert Stubbs, Maureen Oldham, Sheila McPhee (William); his eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Paul Stubbs. Special thanks to Dr. Jarrod Post and the compassionate staff at the dialysis center at Kimberly Hall South. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, December 14, 2020 at 11:00 AM at St. Damian of Molokai-St. Gabriel Church, 379 Broad St., Windsor. Burial with military honors will be in Windsor Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Windsor Food Bank, 599 Matianuck Ave., Windsor, CT 06095.
