  [S5] Obituary. INDIAN LAKE - Donald L. Gauvin, 80, of Jerry Savarie Road in Indian Lake, Hamilton County, died Saturday at his daughter's home after a long illness. Mr. Gauvin was born in Blue Mountain Lake and attended Indian Lake High School. He was employed at Wedekind Motors in Schenectady for 17 years and later was park superintendent of the Lake Durant Campsites for 10 years until retiring in September 1990. An Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Gauvin served as a paratrooper. During the Korean War, he was a staff sergeant in command of the medical ambulance corps at Fort Benning, Ga. He was awarded five Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Mary Wilson Gauvin, whom he married Aug. 28, 1945; two daughters, Sharon Earls and Celeste Gamache, both of Ballston Spa; two brothers, Gordon Gauvin of Amsterdam and Nelson Gauvin of Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. Indian Lake; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Center at Glens Falls Hospital, 100 Park St., Glens Falls, NY 12801; or to Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. Arrangements are by the Brewer Funeral Home, Lake Luzerne.
