Deceased Name: Obituary - Mary M. Charpentier Retired nurse, county worker and ex-lawmaker
Mary M. (Markarian) Charpentier, 95, of 12 Merrimack St., Nashua, where she made her home with her son, Roland, died Sunday, March 10, 1996 at Willow Manor Nursing Home, Lowell, Mass.
Mrs. Charpentier was employed at the Fort Devens Army Hospital in Ayer, Mass., until it closed and at the Bedford V.A. Hospital in Bedford, Mass.
She was a Hillsborough County Extension Service instructor and also served as an adult vocational group instructor. Before her re- tirement she worked as a private nurse and at the Norwell Nursing Home in Nashua.
Mrs. Charpentier also served in the N.H. House of Representatives.
She held membership in the American Legion Barracks 39, Nashua.
During World War II, Mrs. Charpentier was drafted into the Women's Army Medical Corps in 1944. She was assigned to Maguire General Army Hospital in Richmond, Va.
She attended local schools. After her discharge from the service, she attended and graduated from Nashua Business College.
Mrs. Charpentier was born in Nashua on July 22, 1900, daughter of the late George and Mary (Aharonian) Markarian.
She was the widow of Ralph S. Charpentier, who died in 1959.
Survivors include two daughters, Lucille Sylvester and Irene Meunier of Nashua; two sons, Roland Charpentier of Nashua and Walter Charpentier of Florida; a sister, Alta Shattuck of Nashua; three granddaughters and their husbands, Patricia and Arthur Ga- mache of Nashua, Marilyn and James Hagarty of Jackman, Maine, and Susan and Allen Bradley of Florida; a grandson, David E. Hagarty of Nashua, 10 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grand- children and several nieces, neph ews and cousins.
The Zis-Sweeney Funeral Home in Nashua is in charge of arrangements.
