Deceased Name: Dorothy R. Porio, 73
Thursday, February 2 Dorothy Rose (Wnuk) Porio, 73, of 48 Melrose St., Adams, died peacefully in her sleep Wednesday morning, Feb. 1, 2006, at the North Adams Regional Hospital.
Born in Adams on April 15, 1932, she was the daughter Walter and Rose (Brendza) Wnuk. She attended Adams schools and graduated from the former Adams High School, with the class of 1949.
Mrs. Porio last worked for 35 years as a production worker for Sprague Electric Co., North Adams. Prior, she had worked at the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Co., Adams.
She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams.
As a young woman, she was a member of the Adams Turners Gymnastics.
She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing, crossword puzzles, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She leaves her sons, James M. Porio of Adams and Thomas A. Porio of Springfield; two daughters, Barbara J. Porio with whom she made her home, and Teresa M. Gamache and her husband, Timothy, of Adams; four brothers, Donald Wnuk, Walter Wnuk, and William Wnuk, all of Adams, and Thomas Wnuk of New Hampshire; four sisters, Elaine Puppolo, Victoria Morin, Rose Konopka and Nancy Jamros, all of Adams; six grandchildren, Lori Mcclary, Geoffrey Gamache, and Amy Porio, all of North Adams, and Elizabeth Porio, Zachary Porio, and Christopher Porio, all of Adams; two great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She also leaves her former husband, Jeremiah J. Porio of the state of Florida, whom she married Nov. 15, 1952.
A son, David J. Porio, is deceased.
FUNERAL NOTICE ? The funeral for Dorothy Porio will be held Saturday, Feb. 4, 11:30 a.m., from the Augé-Paciorek-Simmons Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St. Adams. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams, with Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Catholic Parishes of Adams, officiating. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams.
Calling hours are Saturday, 11:30-noon, at the funeral home.
