Jacqueline Tucker, a retired school teacher and principal, died on Saturday, August 18 of complications of dementia. She was 79. Ms. Tucker was previously a resident of Longboat Key, FL and Pittsburgh, PA. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Robert E. Tucker.
The daughter of the late Milton and Elaine Green, the former Jacqueline Green was born in Coraopolis, PA and raised in Pittsburgh, PA.
A graduate of The University of Pittsburgh, Jackie was a teacher for The Pittsburgh Public Schools. In 1972, she became the first teacher and then principal for Community Day School, a Jewish Day School.
She was a Life Member of Hadassah and Board Member of Zionist Organization of America. Jackie volunteered for Family House, helping transplant patients both before and after their surgeries.
She was an avid bridge player and became a bridge Life Master.
Ms.Tucker is survived by her children, Jon Tucker, James Tucker (Valerie Hausman), and Amy (Peter) Sloane; her sisters, Penelope (Paul) Levy and Joanne (Steve) Jacobs; and her grandchildren Joe Tucker, Harris Tucker, Gabriella Tucker, Andrew Tucker, Justin Tucker, Joshua Sloane (Sonia Silinsky Krupnikova), Jennifer Sloane, and Brandon Sloane.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Ralph Schugar Funeral Home in Pittsburgh, PA.
