  [S5] Obituary. Thomas Anthony Kellerhuis Thomas Anthony Kellerhuis, 68, died Monday, May 10, 1999, in Iron River. He was born July 4, 1930, in Helena, Mont., and spent most of his childhood in Mahnoman, Minn. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the D Battery, 79th AAA Gun Battalion and A Battery 24th AAA Gun Battalion. He retired as a master sergeant with the 1-94 Armor Unit, of the Army National Guard. He was married to Gloria A. Briney on July 1,1950, and they raised their family in Duluth. Tom had a lifelong career with the Teamsters, including driving truck and serving as business agent and secretary-treasurer for Teamsters Local No. 346. In 1985, he was appointed director of the construction division at the International Teamsters office in Washington, D.C., and was an active chair with Joint Council No. 32. He retired in 1992 and resided in the Duluth and Iron River area. Tom was a member of the Duluth Polo Club, the Duluth Saddle Club and the United States Polo Assn. He enjoyed his family, horses and telling stories. He will be remembered for his cigars and toothpicks. He is survived by his wife, Gloria; three sons, Tony, Leesburg, Va.; Bruce (Tracey), Duluth and John, Iron River; four daughters, Marlene, Alma (John) Gamache and Anna (Steve) Verva, all of Duluth, and Michelle (Mark) Porter, Meadowlands, Minn.; his father, Anton, Duluth; a brother, Bernard (Dorla), Forest Lake, Minn.; two sisters, Geraldine Maus and Shirley Karo, both of Duluth; 13 grandchildren, Billie, Katie, Misty, Ray, Jessica, Max, Amanda, Keith, Tammy, Thomas, Tina, Aarron and Myra; two great-grandchildren, Mattison and Cydnee, and his adopted family, Ron (Kit) Davis, Gary (Sally) Hansen, LeRoy Lassard, Web Lathrop, Leroy Slater and Bucky Sipes. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lola. The funeral service will be at 3 p.m., Friday, at St. John's Catholic Church, Duluth, with interment in the Calvary Cemetery, Duluth. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Thursday, at the Dougherty Funeral Home, Duluth, and from 2-3 p.m., Friday, at the church.
