GORR, Mary - Age 94, died October 24, 1996 at Heritage Manor. Cremation has taken place with the remains moved to Cherry Grove Cemetery, Clare, Michigan for burial. There will be no funeral service. Mary was born in Clare, Michigan, May 8, 1902. While her childhood years were spent in Clare, her adult years found her in Flint, Michigan where she worked for the Flint Board of Education as a teacher at Parkland Elementary, Civic Park Elementary, Principal at William Durant Elementary and Everett Cummings Elementary, retiring in 1967. She was a member of Court Street United Methodist Church, a graduate of Central Michigan University and the University of Michigan, a life member of Chapter 138 O.E.S., a life member of an International Honor Society, Mu Chapter, Delta Kappa Gamma, a member of the Genesee Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and a member of some educational groups. She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, and sister-in-law, Viola Gorr. Survivors are: Marjorie and Dallas Gamache Jr. of Detroit, the Joseph and Diane Bender family of Farmington, sister-in-law, Winnie Gorr of Shepherd, Michigan; several cousins and some very dear friends.
