Donald Joseph Bachmeier, 81, passed away July 29, 2008, born February 2, 1927 in Yakima, Wash., to Joseph A. and Lucile (Beausoleil) Bachmeier.
He attended Harrah Grade School and graduated from Wapato High School. Donald farmed with his father in the Harrah vicinity until his retirement in 1975. He spent several years in the U.S. Army stationed at Point Barrow, Alaska. He had many tales of his experiences there which he liked to talked about. Don was an avid reader and enjoyed working on his computer with the commodities market.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, his spirituality and religion was very important to him. He lived a solitary life and attended daily mass until limited by his health. He enjoyed hearing family news and their visits.
Don is survived by his two sisters, Patricia (Richard) Gamache of Moxee and Joanne (James) Guthrie of Pismo Beach, CA, also nine nephews and nieces. He is also preceeded in death by a great nephew.
He was a caregiver for his mother and father in their later years until their deaths.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Donald's name to the donor's charity of choice in care of Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home.
