- [S5] Obituary.
Esther Provost, age 69, died Wednesday at home in Marble, Colorado, after being stricken ill.
She leaves her husband of 49 years, Ronald Provost, former Sturbridge Fire Chief; a daughter, Linda Menard and her husband Steven; two sons, Michael and James, all of Colorado; two sisters, Blanche Waleski and Keitha Murphy, both of Sturbridge; a brother, Arthur Papineau of Fiskdale; three grandchildren, Kyle, Ryan, and Dustin; a great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
She was born in Boston on February 24, 1937, daughter of Russell Moore and Frances (Nickerson) Moore Papineau, both deceased. She was predeceased by a brother, James Moore, who died in 1942, and two sisters, Eloise Moore, who died in 1943 and Virginia (Ginnie) Gardner, who died in 1992.
She lived in the Sturbridge/Fiskdale area most of her life, before moving to Colorado after her husband's retirement. She loved being around people, and worked for many years as a waitress at Rom's Restaurant, and then as a cashier in Colorado before retiring recently, but her biggest joy was her family.
A memorial service will be held in Colorado.
