Deceased Name: Patrick C. Fitzgibbons, 55
BOSTON - Patrick C. Fitzgibbons, 55, of the Roslindale section of Boston, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013 at the Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston. He was the beloved companion of Janet A. Chesley of Mansfield.
Born in Boston on Oct. 10, 1957, he was a loving son of the late retired Boston firefighter James L. Fitzgibbons and Marguerite J. (McNeil) Fitzgibbons.
Pat grew up and lived most of his life in Roslindale. He was educated in Boston public schools and was a graduate of Charlestown High School.
For the past 26 years, Pat was employed in the inside sales department at Motion Industries Inc. in Woburn.
Pat was an active member and past exalted ruler of the Mansfield B.P.O.E. 2633 in Mansfield, and through his affiliations with the Elks, had volunteered for many years helping others at the Brockton VA Hospital.
Pat spent much time in Mansfield and Wareham and had attended St. Mary's Church in Mansfield, He had formerly attended St. John Chrysostom Church in West Roxbury.
For many years, he was a year-round member of the "L Street Brownies" in Boston. He was also a member of the NRA and enjoyed attending yard sales, vacationing in Florida, the beach, walking and playing cards and the slot machines at Foxwoods Casino.
In addition to his beloved companion Jan, he is survived by his dear sisters, Ann Gamache and her husband Jack of Hingham, and Eileen Honan and her husband Bill of Hyde Park, and was the brother of the late Joseph Fitzgibbons. He is also survived by his nephews, Peter Gamache of Hingham and Matthew Gamache of Martha's Vineyard, as well as many friends.
His funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Monday, Jan. 28 at 9:30 a.m. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield, followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will be private.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, Jan. 27 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Sherman Jackson Funeral Home. A Lodge of Sorrows service performed by the Mansfield Elks will be held on Sunday at 6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, Patrick's family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Mansfield Animal Shelter, 175 Fruit Street, Mansfield, MA 02048.
