  [S5] Obituary. Bernice Marie (Jones) Hanses, age 85, passed away May 25, 2011. She was born August 3, 1925 in Wenatchee, WA. Bernice was 2 1/2 years old when the family moved to Yakima. Later graduating from Yakima Senior High in February 1944, the "Class of 1943 1/2." Bernice married Robert J. Hanses, January 11, 1947. They raised eight children: seven girls and one boy. In 1954, they moved to Spokane. Bernice worked for Spokane County Assessor's office from 1977 to 1995, retiring at 70, after 18 1/2 years. Bernice was preceded in death by her daughter, Roberta Meier. She is survived by her children: Sue Johnson, Spokane, Barbara Link, Sweet Home, OR, Mary Ann Haney, Mercer Island, WA, Joseph Hanses, Lebanon, OR, Cheryl Hanses, Snohomish, WA, Betty Ells, Wenatchee, Diana Price, Spokane; 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. A memorial will be held August 3, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at the home of Diana and Gary Price, 509-467-6922.
