Robert Hanses
Millwood
Funeral Mass for Robert James Hanses, 85, will be today at 10 a.m. at St. Paschal Roman Catholic Church. Hennessey Valley Funeral Home is in Charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hanses, who was born in Tampico, Wash., died Thursday. He was a resident of Spokane for 51 year.
He graduated from Marquette High School in Yakima in 1937.
He entered the Navy, serving during World War II for four years as a chief petty officer aboard the USS Harris.
He lived in Wiley City, Wash., until settling in Spokane in 1953, where he farmed at Mount St. Michaels for the Jesuits.
Mr. Hanses has been a member of St. Paschal Parish for 27 years. He enjoyed gardening and playing pinochle, cribbage and Acey-Ducey. Survivors include a son, Joe Hanses of Lebanon, Ore.: seven daughters, Sue Johnson of Otis Orchards, Diana Price of Spokane, Cheryl Pierce of Snohomish, Wash., Mary Ann Haney of Mercer Island, Wash.; Betty Ells
of Wenatchee, and Roberta Meier and Barb Link, both of Sweet Home, Ore.; a brother, Richard Hanses of Walla Walla; a sister, Mary Sandall of Moxee City, Wash.; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
