Jeanette Garneau, LACONIA

LACONIA-Jeanette M. (Cross) Garneau, 73, formerly of Cleveland Place, died Thursday at the Belknap County Nursing Home. She was born in Ashland, the daughter of Arthur and Helen (Gamache) Cross. She lived in Laconia most of her life, working as a homemaker and a seamstress and at Whittemore's Flower Shop. She and her husband owned and operated a local apartment rental business for many years. Garneau was a member of the Lakeside Swingers Square Dance Club, the Latchkey Chapter Camping Association and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Women's Auxiliary. She enjoyed music, singing, dancing and reading. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. Survivors include two sons, David Garneau of Laconia and Michael Garneau of Belmont; two daughters, Michelle Jones of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Lisa Ann Doyle of Savannah, Ga.; a brother, Robert Cross of Sacramento, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Her husband, Ronald Garneau, died in 1984, and a brother, Horace Cross, also died previously. Calling hours will be held today from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Union Avenue, Laconia. The Rev. Adrien Longchamps, pastor, will officiate.
