HOLT, MIch. - Joan M. Johnson, 86, formerly of Iron Mountain, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011, at the Holt Senior Care and Rehab Center in Holt.
She was born Nov. 26, 1924, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Clyde and Edith (Cameron) Winters. Joan graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1942 and lived in the area most of her life.
She married Harold Peskey on April 17, 1946, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Iron Mountain. He preceded her in death on Jan. 13, 1997.Joan later married Orland Johnson and he preceded her in death on March 2, 1993.
She was an active member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Kingsford. Joan served in many capacities at the church and was the Sunday School superintendent for several years. She enjoyed sewing, painting and spending time with her family.
Joan is survived by two sons, Leslie (Rose) Peskey of Indianapolis, Ind. and Dennis (Catherine) Peskey of St. Johns, Mich.; a daughter, Roxanne Peskey of Eaton Rapids, Mich.; two brothers, Orville Winters of Iron Mountain and Glenn (Cherie) Winters of Kingsford; two sisters, Faith King of Mesick, Mich. and Janelle Krueger of Wind Lake, Wis.; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husbands, she was preceded in death by two brothers.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will follow Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Lori Liverance will officiate.
Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Clintonville, Wis.
