Dowling Ill, William J.
William J. Dowling Ill, formerly of Neenah, WI.
Bill Dowling, age 68 of Summerville, SC passed away at home on Oct. 21, 2016 after battling numerous health issues, including cancer, for many years.
Bill was born Dec. 27, 1947 in Neenah, oldest child of William Dowling Jr and Margaret (Ottman) Dowling. He graduated from Neenah High School in 1966. He left Neenah in the 1970's, living in AZ, TX, NY and SC pursuing a career in shoe sales. He worked at various prestigious shoe companies, including Cole Haan in NYC and Bob Ellis Shoes of Charleston, SC before retiring. Bill was a born salesman.
Over 30 years ago Bill changed the course of his life dramatically when he embraced sobriety and a spiritual life. Bill was very witty and had a wonderful sense of humor.
Bill is survived by loving wife Sarah Harnett Dowling, daughter Kris LeCaire (Dan) Racette, their son Reece, Menasha, son Paul Dowling of Phoenix, AZ, stepdaughter Kim Porter, Charleston, stepsons Lockwood Turner, Charleston, SC and James Turner, PA. Further survived by his sister Sari Miller, Appleton, brother Colin (Bonnie) Dowling, The Colony TX, nieces Christen Dowling, The Colony TX, Becky (Freddy) Natividad, Tulsa, OK, their son Jayden, and his uncle Fr. Ray G. Dowling, Georgetown, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Bob Miller, many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial service for Bill will be held in Summerville, SC Spring 2017. Rest in peace Bill, your suffering is over. You will always be in our hearts.
