LOUIS ESCOVITZ was born June 12, 1915 in New York to parents, Minnie Goldberg and Harry Escovitz, who emigrated from Romania. Like his father and youngest brother, he was employed by the Railway Express Company in Cleveland, OH, where he worked for 37 years. He was the last employee when the office in Cleveland was closed. Louis married Dorothy Hartman in November, 1939. They lived in Cleveland for most of their married life. Following retirement, they resided in Florida before moving to Austin in 1993. Dorothy passed away in 1998. Louis was the second youngest and the last remaining of seven children. He is survived by his daughter, Sandy and husband, Dr. Marshall Sack of Austin, and son, Dr. Alan Escovitz and wife, Suzanne of Columbus, OH. He also leaves two grandsons, Adam Sack and wife, Jacque of Houston, and Jason Sack and wife, Vaishali of Gaithersburg, MD. Louis delighted in his two great-granddaughters, Kendall Sack and Shalini Sack. Louis died on Monday, Sept. 17 in Austin. Graveside services will be held at the Agudas Achim Cemetery, Austin Memorial Park, 2800 Hancock Drive on Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 2 p.m. Louis was a member of Congregation Agudas Achim.
