Died:
- Stanley Joseph ?Joe? Szympruch, 79, of Center Conway, NH passed away on January 9, 2026, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital, surrounded by his family, and by their laughter sharing their stories of Joe.
Born on February 20, 1946, Joe and his siblings (mostly his brothers) were known to have run wild through the streets of in Oil City, Pennsylvania, with mom Katherine frequently being called to meet with the nuns at St Joe?s.
He served in the US Army Reserves from 1966-1972 in Jamestown, New York, where he met his first wife, Kathleen Wyberanec.
Joe earned his BS degree from Husson University, and in later years, his MBA from Plymouth University.

In 1977, Joe moved to the Mount Washington Valley and began working at Alvin J. Coleman & Son Inc. as controller, working for 48 years until the time of his death.
There he met the love of his life, Michele.
Their union, and how they blended their families, worked together, lived together, played pickleball together (with occasional disputes on line calls), with humor and family being the focus, were an inspiration to all their children.
At the age of 50, Joe took his first ski lesson at King Pine because brother Tom had started skiing and there was no way he would let his younger brother be better than him.
When brother Ed took up pickleball, exceling at the sport, Joe found his new passion.
Joe has been leading the local pickleball group at the Fryeburg Rec Center for many years, where he and Michele made many dear friends.
If you were one of Joe?s children or grandchildren, you were indoctrinated early, played when you visited, and expected to know the rules and stay out of the kitchen!
Joe most loved spending time with his family, playing pickleball, and enjoying a margarita and popcorn in the evening.
As a long time member of The North Conway Country Club, he also served on the Board of Directors.
If you knew Joe, you knew he always had a wintergreen lifesaver to share, and a copy of The Conway Daily Sun to pass on.
The family will treasure the memories of ski trips to Colorado, the trip to the White Cities of Spain, family reunions, the many things Joe taught his grandkids, and the oddball collections he left that keep us laughing.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley Joseph and Katherine Szympruch.
He is survived by his wife Michele Szympruch, daughter Kerry Welton of Sweden, Maine, son Kevin Szympruch of Conifer, Colorado, son Ben Szympruch of Aumsville, Oregon, stepson BJ Gamache of Methuen, Massachusetts, stepson Nick Gamache of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, their spouses, partners, and 10 grandchildren, as well as Joe?s siblings, sister Pat Carter, brother Ed Szympruch and wife Carol, brother Tom Szympruch and wife Sue, sister Mary Kay Clifton and husband Mike, and many nieces and nephews.
The family is very grateful to the oncology department at Dartmouth Hitchcock for their expertise and care.
A celebration of life service will be held at the end of May at the Fryeburg Rec Center.
