Died:
- Howard Herbert "Butch" Sturm, 58, Cannon Falls, Minn., died suddenly Tuesday morning, Dec. 11, 2001, at Cannon Falls Community Hospital.
He was born July 3, 1943, at Amery, Wis., the son of Herbert and Ethel (Gamache) Sturm. He was a 1961 graduate of Turtle Lake High School. He married Mary Ellen Evenson June 10, 1977, on their farm near Cannon
Falls. His career was real estate, and he specialized in farm and land sales. He owned Realty Market, Inc., at Can-non Falls for many years. Realty Market merged with Edina Realty a few years ago.
He served as a past state president of the Minnesota Association of Realtors in 1990 and served as a national director for many years for the National Association of Realtors. He was honored as the State of Minnesota Realtor of the Year. He was a life member of R.P.A.C and was a member of the Farm and Land Institute.
He was an avid sportsman and hunter and belonged to the Safari Club. He loved his farm and animals in Clark Valley, where he raised horses and buffalo.
He was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ at Cannon Falls. He was also a member of the Quarter Horse Association and the National Bison Association. He was a former professional "Bassmaster" fisherman.
Surviving are his wife of 24 years, Mary Ellen; children, Tho-mas (Lori) Peterson of South St. Paul, Jayne Overstreet of Cannon Falls, Angie (Joe) Levandoski of Zimmerman, and Monique Reichstadt of Forest Lake; six grandchildren; one sister, Doris (Clarence) Torgerson of Turtle Lake; a sister-in-law, Mary Jeska of Turtle Lake; in-laws, Jack (Bunnie) Evenson of Inver Grove Heights, Karen Johnson of Apple Valley, Carol (Dave) Johnson of Inver Grove Heights, and Gary (Sue) Sturm of St. Paul; and many nieces, nephews, and loving friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Arnold Jeska; and a brother-in-law, Jim Evenson.
A celebration of his life was held Friday, Dec. 4, at St. Ansgar's Lutheran Church, Cannon Falls. A memorial service followed visitation, with Rev. Dr. Gary Titusdahl officiating. A dinner followed the service at the church.
Honorary pallbearers were his hunting buddies--Bob Carlson, Pete Robarge, Jim Leisz, Mark Robarge, Greg Carlson, Tom Peterson, Jim Leisz, Jr., Russ Torgerson, Dennis Dunker, Gary Sturm, and Jim Patterson.
Arrangements were with the Lundberg Funeral Home, Cannon Falls.
