Leola Mary (Vos) Anderson, longtime resident of St. James, died peacefully on Jan. 20, 2017.
Leola Mary (Vos) Anderson, longtime resident of St. James, died peacefully on Jan. 20, 2017. Her passing was eased by the loving care of her family and the staff at Ecumen Pathstone Care Center in Mankato. She was 98. A memorial service will be held in the spring. Memorial donations may be made to Augustana Lutheran Church, St. James, or to Ecumen Pathstone Care Center in Mankato.
Leola was born Sept. 15, 1918 in Holdingford to Thomas Vos and Rose (Schiller) Vos. She married Ralph Thomas Anderson Oct. 5, 1940. They moved to St. James and became co-owners of the former Hi-Way Market, which was located at the fairgrounds corner. The market was known for its quality meat department and for being open 364 days a year. Leola was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church, St. James. She enjoyed golf, bridge, cross country car trips, and spending time with her family.
She is united in heaven by those who preceded her in death, including her parents; husband, her brother, Norbert; and most recently, her daughter, Margaret Warling and son-in-law, Kenneth Hoppe. She leaves behind her sisters, Dolores Burger; Rosemary Heisick; brother, Ralph Vos; children, Mary Anne Hoppe, Bradford (Carole) Anderson; son-in-law, James Warling; grandchildren, Suzanne (Randy) Seedorf, Brian (Natalie) Hoppe, Darin (Joleen Emery) Warling, Meegan (David) Schaeffer, Jenna (Andy Cambridge) Anderson; great-grandchildren, Robert Seedorf, Derek Seedorf, Tyler Hoppe, Brianna Hoppe, Hannah Warling, Delaney Schaeffer, Lilianna Schaeffer, Zachery Schaeffer and Noah Schaeffer; and three extended family great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all.
