GAMACHE, Kathleen Pearl (nee Gill) October 16, 1922 to January 18, 2011 Wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Kathleen passed away peacefully surrounded by family at New Vista Care Home January 18. Predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Charles Robert, daughter Sheree, brothers Dick and Jim, she is survived by sisters Rosealie, Alex, Hilda, Hazel and Doreen, brothers Kenneth and Stanley and her children Irene, Stella, Lloyd, Bob, Larry, Helen, Gary, Carol, Jacque, Norma Jean, Kathleen, Phillip Morris and Daniel, as well as 25 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Born in Southam England, Kathleen first settled in New Brunswick in 1925 where she met and married Charles in 1941. In 1954 the family made their way to Baie-Comeau, Quebec where she had her last six children. Residing in the lower mainland since 1968, Kathleen spent 20 years working at the Banfield Pavilion within Vancouver General Hospital as a nutritionist in the cafeteria. Hawaii was a favourite holiday destination for Kathleen. She also enjoyed the odd glass of wine with family and friends. Kathleen remained active well into her early 80s with walks, bowling, golf and family. Her high women's bowling game of 258, achieved while in her 70s, still holds at the Lucky Strike Lanes in New Westminster. A memorial service will be held Friday, January 28, 2:00 pm at Langara Golf Course, 6706 Alberta Street, Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of one's choice.
