Joseph A. Santos, 92, of Westport, formerly of Somerset, MA, and Englewood, FL, passed away surrounded by his family at his residence on Wednesday, November 4, 2015. He was the husband of the late Josephine Fina (Cabral) Santos. Joseph was born in Hudson, MA, the son of the late Sergio A. and Mary (Esteves) Santos. He served his country during WWII with the United States Army. Mr. Santos worked in the textile industry for Newport Finishing and then Capri Textile, as a machine operator for many years, retiring in 1988. Joseph was a communicant of Saint Patrick Church in Somerset. He cherished the time he spent with his family and friends. Mr. Santos was a member of the VFW Post #5392 in Tiverton and Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed woodworking, dining out and traveling. Survivors are three daughters: Cynthia A. Buckely and her husband Neil of Westport; Donna M. Santos-Alves and her husband Frank of Fall River; Kathleen M. Santos of Westport; two sons: James A. Santos of Fall River; Daniel J. Santos of Tiverton; two grandchildren: David J. Santos of Fall River and Jillian M. Santos-Almeida and her husband Colin of Lakeville; three great grandchildren: Christopher, Shaelyn and Kaiden; a sister: Emily Santos of Clearwater, FL. He was the brother of the late Isabel Albert and Janet Gamache. His Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 9, 2015 at 9am from the Hathaway Community Home for Funerals, 900 Buffinton Street, Somerset, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10am in Saint Patrick Church, 306 South Street, Somerset. Relatives and friends are invited to attend, burial to follow with Military Honors in Nathan Slade Cemetery Somerset. The family would like to thank Stewart Hospice and the Saint Catherine Unit at Saint Annes Hospital for the care and compassion they proved to Joseph and his family.
