- [S5] Obituary.
January 9, 1953 - April 15, 2024
It is with unexpected sadness that we announce the passing of our father Gilbert (Gil).
Predeceased by parents Eva & Aime, brother Robert and sister Monique Macdonald.
He leaves to mourn his wife of 48 years Jani, and sons Andy and Daniel. Brother-in-law Robert Schultz (Vikki), 1 sister, 5 brothers, and a very large extended family and many friends.
Gilbert was very proud to have been in Army Cadets and advanced quickly. It is there that he learned his respect for firearms, sense of orderliness and to follow chain of command.
His work career led him to northern BC, Sechelt, Yukon, Northwest Territories and as far north as the Beauford Sea, and the Lower Mainland.
But to truly know Gilbert was to play a round of golf with him. A member in good standing at the Mission Golf and Country Club for almost 40 years. It was his passion. Whether it be Hawaii, Mexico, California, Arizona, Nevada or BC, the golf clubs were always close at hand. If you didn't find him on the links, he was watching golf on TV.
Unfortunately, he was too ill to watch the final round of the Master's but insisted we record it anyway.
He detested slow play, (you know who you are) "so for @#$$% sake pick up the pace!!!!!"

In lieu of flowers donations to the Diabetes Foundation or the Ridge Meadows Hospital are appreciated.
