Joseph "Barney" Misho, 83, of Vandergrift, died at 1 a.m. Friday (March 22, 2003) at Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights, Harrison, where he was a patient for 10 days. He was born Feb. 24, 1920, in Ford City, and lived in East Vandergrift and Vandergrift for most of his life. During World War II, he served with the Army Air Corps. Prior to retiring he worked 25 years in the open hearth section of Wean United Engineering Foundry in Vandergrift. Mr. Misho was a member of St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church, Vandergrift, and the Slovak Club in East Vandergrift. An avid sports fan, he especially enjoyed basketball. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and planting flowers. Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Ida A. Stokes Misho; two sons, Bernard J. Misho and Brian J. (Deanna) Misho, both of Vandergrift; two daughters, Mrs. Michele (William) Brown of Apollo and Pattie Jo Misho of New Kensington; a brother, John "Mini" Misho of East Vandergrift; and a sister, Margaret Misho of Vandergrift. Also surviving are four granddaughters, Ashlee, Amanda and Amber Brown and Alison Misho. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Gizella Bellas Misho; and two sisters, Mary Jane Marencik and Sister Ann Rose Misho. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. Monday until time of Parting Prayers at 9:30 a.m. in the GERALD J. MEDICE FUNERAL HOME, 1916 Moore Ave., North Apollo. Christian Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. in St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church, Franklin Avenue, Vandergrift, with the Rev. Leo Rothrauff as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Gertrude Catholic Cemetery, Allegheny Township, with full military honors accorded by the Vandergrift Joint Veterans Association. Visit at www.medicefuneralhome.com.
