  Born: Isaac W. Betts was a boiler inspector in the United States Steamboat Inspection Service. In July 1914 the family moved to Louisville, Kentucky, where he assumed the duty as the boiler inspector for the Louisville office of the Steamboat Inspection Service (U.S. Department of Commerce). Captain Betts was a collector of river lore, and compiled scrapbooks of clippings from magazines and newspapers on steamboat travel. This collection is identified as "Isaac W. Betts Papers, Missouri History Museum Archives, St. Louis." Listed in the 1870 Census for Upper Township, Lawrence County, Ohio (Page 563A, Line 29).
