George A. Matton, 63, lifelong resident of Somerset, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Monday, October 30, 2017. He was the husband of Susan (Kulpa) Matton, with whom he shared over 40 years of marriage. George was born in Fall River and was a son of the late George J. And Mary F. (Coutinho) Matton. George served his country honorably in the US Marine Corps and was a member of the Fall River and Somerset Rod and Gun Clubs. George enjoyed trap shooting and was the 1993 MA State Trap Association Handicap Champion. George also enjoyed making his own fishing poles, clam boils and was a die hard Dallas Cowboys fan. Most of all, he cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Jason Matton and his companion Ashley Myers of Fall River and Kimberly Matton of Warren, RI; sisters, Olga Bielecki and her longtime companion Joseph Beland and Angelina Gamache, all of Somerset; brothers, Joseph Matton and his wife Nina of New Bedford and Peter Matton of SC; grandchildren, Ava, Olivia, Scott and Jordan; Avas mother, Tammy Silva, many nieces and nephews and a large loving extended family. He was the brother of the late Albert Matton Private arrangements entrusted to Hathaway Community Home for Funerals, Somerset.
