Rouses Point, N.Y. ? Victor J. "Vic" West, 85, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2004, at the Cedar Hedge Nursing Home in Rouses Point.
He was born in Mooers, N.Y., on Aug. 26, 1918, the son of Arthur and Cecilia (Manor) West.
Vic was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Rouses Point, a member of the American Legion Post 912, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8722, the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Bishop Wadams Council 706 in Plattsburgh, 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus Rouses Point and a member of the Unique Auto Club.
Vic was a building contractor for most of his life. He owned and operated the West Pontiac dealership, the West Liquor Store and the West Building and Supply Co., each business located in Rouses Point.
His wife, the former Louise Gamache, died March 26, 1989. He is also predeceased by his parents; three brothers, Hector, Emmett and Edward; and a sister, Edith.
Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Viola and Leon Lamere of Mooers; a sister-in-law, Louise West of Auburn, N.Y.; and ten nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Monday, Jan. 19th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the E.F. Drown Funeral Service in Champlain. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. from St. Patrick's Church in Rouses Point. Burial will be in St. Ann's Cemetery in Mooers Forks in the spring.
Memorial donations in Vic's name may be made to St. Patrick's Church in Rouses Point.
