LEWISTON ? Alfred A. Gamache, 62, of 76 Southern Terrace, Wales, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at Central Maine Medical Center.
Born in Biddeford on Sept. 21, 1942, he was the son of Jean-Marie and Lucienne Sheink Gamache. Educated in local schools, he was a graduate of St. Dominic High School and the University of Southern Maine. He was employed for 11 years as a Portland police officer, and then worked as a social worker for the Maine Department of Human Services, retiring in 2001.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Parish, the National Fraternity of the Secular Franciscan Order, and was an avid gardener.
Survivors include his mother, Lucienne Gamache of Wales; a son, Joseph D. and wife Wendy of Lewiston; a daughter, Theresa Jeanne Gamache of Portland; and two grandsons, Jacob and Maxwell.
