Aline Gevry Kirk, whose life was a shining example of love, kindness, patience and strength, passed away Saturday, September 2, 2017.
Aline was born in Actonvale, Quebec, November 20, 1925, daughter of Valmore and Aurise Gevry. In 1927 the family purchased a farm in Addison and immigrated to Vermont. The Gevrys were a large, close-knit family, and despite many hardships Aline's most powerful stories were of a home alive with music (Aline on piano), dancing and laughter.
In 1949 Aline married photographer Elmer (E.J.) Kirk. Her beauty, style and elegance made her his favorite subject. The couple lived in Burlington, together raised seven children, and later retired to Florida. After E.J.'s death Aline returned to Vermont. She spent her last three years as a resident of Our Lady of Providence in Winooski.
Aline is survived by her children, Laurie Ross and partner Ned Getchell, Robert Kirk and wife Kate Marra, Marie Gaboriault and husband Rob, Patti Hoke and husband Mike, Anne Overall and husband Mike, Nancy Atherton and husband Craig, siblings Yvette Field, Alice Cousino, Suzanne Gamache, Joanne Dusten, Cecile Young and Robert Gevry, thirteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and sister-in-law Marion Kirk.
She was predeceased by her husband, E.J., son Charles, grandson Jeffrey, and siblings Gerry, Louis, Colombe, Bridget, Claire, Lawrence, Roland and Paul.
A funeral mass will be held Saturday, Sept. 9 at 11:00 AM at St. Francis Xavier Church in Winooski.
