WATERLOO ? Harriet J. Gamache, 79, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2017 at her home, with her loving and supportive family by her side.
Friends and family are invited to call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday (January 20) at Mull Funeral Home, 113 Virginia Street, Waterloo. A funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, at St. Mary's Church, Waterloo. Burial will follow in St. Mary's cemetery.
Harriet's family have requested that memorial contributions be directed to any of the following: St. Mary's Church, 25 Center Street, Waterloo, NY 13165; Lifetime Care Hospice, 1120 S. Main Street, Newark, NY 14513-9940 or Finger Lakes Oncology, 17 Ambulance Drive, Clifton Springs, NY 14432.
Harriet was born September 19, 1937 in Rochester, N.Y. She was the daughter of the late John and Mary Tiaskkun-Zeck. She was a 1955 graduate of St. Mary's School, a 1959 graduate of Waterloo Senior High School and went on to complete business school, in Rochester, in 1961. She then started her career in bookkeeping at Sylvania, continued at J&M Pants Store and retired from Liz Claiborne, where she was a sales associate. Harriet's greatest love was her family. She enjoyed going on excursions with her husband and friends, reading, trips to Barnes and Noble, taking care of her home and social events such as St. Mary's Festival and luncheons at Abigails.
Harriet is survived by her husband of 34 years, Frederick J. Gamache, of Waterloo; her beautiful daughters Kathleen (Khaly) Diatta, of NYC and Karen Bush, of Waterloo; her stepson, Darren (Denise) Gamache, of Auburn; grandchildren Andrew (Jillian) Trahms, Emily Trahms, Nicole Fabiszak, Devin and Danell Gamache; her brother, Anthony (Judy) Zeck; her aunts Rose Haust, of Clyde and Catherine (Chester) Graiko, of Florida; niece, Michelle (John) Zeck-Montesanto; nephew, Daniel (Colleen) Zeck; several other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Harriet was preceded in death by her first husband, Andrew T. McCollum, Jr., who passed away July 27, 1980.
