Ann (Lesniak) Irwin, 69, of Springfield, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2014 at Baystate Medical Center due to cardiac arrest. Born in Holyoke, Ann was a lifelong resident of the Chicopee/ Springfield area. She was employed at MassMutual Life Insurance Company in Springfield for several years and worked for Solutia (Monsanto) also in Springfield. Traveling and gardening were a few of her hobbies, but her real talent was knitting and crocheting. Ann crocheted and knitted her wedding gown, which was featured in an article in the local Springfield newspaper years past. Ann was also a very active member and fundraiser for the Springfield Chapter of the National Federation for the Blind and was active with the Chicopee Theater group. She was a communicant of the Mary, Mother of Hope Church in Springfield. Ann is predeceased by her Mother, Florence Mazzolini, her Father, Sylvester Lesniak and brother Paul Gamache. She leaves two brothers, Richard Gamache of Midlothian, VA and Alan Lesniak of Chicopee. Ann also leaves three sisters, June Vigneault of Ludlow, Florence Tougas of Clearwater, FL and Lynn Shaughnessy of East Wareham. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at 11:00am followed by burial in Fairview Cemetery in Chicopee. Visiting hours will be held prior to the funeral on Tuesday from 10:00 - 11:00am. For more details please visit curranjones.com.
