Martha S. Womble
CALHOUN CITY ? Martha Smith Womble, 87, died Friday, Oct. 21, 2005. She was born Nov. 7, 1917, in Pittsboro to the late Samuel Hawkins Smith and Pauline Ellard Smith. She graduated from Mississippi State College for Women in 1938 and had been a teacher for 30 years. She was a member of the Pinellas County Retired Teachers Association. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Clearwater, Fla. She was the widow of Conard James Womble.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Pryor Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. E.A. Bailey officiating. Burial will be in the Pittsboro Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Rachel Gamache and husband, Duane, of Fairhope, Ala.; one brother, Sam Ellard Smith Sr. and wife, Nadine, of Louisville; two nieces, Bridget Smith Pieschel of Columbus and Susan Smith McAdory of Louisville; one nephew, Sam E. Smith of Madison.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two sisters, Bernice Smith and Christine Smith Saust.
Pallbearers will be Victor H. Ellard, John Allen Ellard, Stephen R. Peischel, Alexander Smith Pieschel, Sam Ellard Smith Jr. and Jim McAdory.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
