Ann Altschuler

Ann was born in Galveston, Texas, on Feb. 16, 1962. She was born with multiple congenital defects, which she bravely endured throughout her lifetime. She accepted pain as an intimate part of her life, and did not object to the multiple surgeries throughout the years.
She moved with her family to Houston, Texas, in 1963, and eventually graduated from Memorial High School and attended two years of college. However, her physical limitations prevented her from continuing her dream of becoming a nurse. She never complained and treasured her friends and family. She enjoyed watching the Houston Astros and Texans. Her favorite companion was her cat, Sparkles. She lived independently with her roommate, Becky, for many years, and enjoyed outings by driving to Galveston. She had fond memories of beach weekends with her family.
She is survived by her father, Milton Altschuler, M.D., and his wife, Susan, along with her mother, Elaine J. Altschuler, her older sister, Marilynne Franks Bleeker and her brother-in-law, Alford Bleeker, and her favorite nephews, Andrew Franks and his wife Miriam, together with Brian Franks.
She fought a long, hard, painful battle with many surgeries and hospitalizations without complaining, and now has found peace without pain following her death on May 19, 2019.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Congregation Emanu El, 1500 Sunset Blvd, Houston, Texas.
