Thomas Kubond Dec. 11, 1934 - July 14, 2015 NILES - Thomas G. Kubond, 80, of Niles, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, July 14, 2015. He was born on December 11, 1934, in Seney, Michigan, to the late Robert and Mary (Hollingshead) Kubond. Tom served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy. On July 8, 1977, he married Kathleen McQuaid at a ceremony in Niles. He worked for many years as a flooring installer for Joers Carpet One in Mishawaka. He enjoyed puzzles, an avid coin collector, bowling, golfing, history and had been a member of the Niles AMVETS. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Kathleen, a brother and three sisters. He is survived by his two stepdaughters, Suellyn Bivens and Patricia Sims, both of Niles, a granddaughter, Kristin Bivens (Justin Flagel) of Niles, a sister, Grace Gamache of Saginaw, along with many nieces and nephews. A time of visitation will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2015, at Brown Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 17, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, with Dr. Ruth Walkotten officiating. An interment with military honors will follow at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made in Tom's memory to Hospice at Home.
