Francis E. Tellier
Leominster, MA native, WWll Vet; 91
PORT ORANGE, FL -- Francis E. Tellier, 91, passed away peacefully on 2/23/15 in the presence of his daughters at Halifax Hospital in Port Orange, Florida, after a long battle with COPD.
He was born on 12/21/1923 in the city of Leominster to Alexander and Sophranie (Cabana) Tellier.
Francis served in the USN during WWII, held the rank of EM3/C and served on board the battleship USS Washington. He traveled the world from Iceland down to the South Pacific Islands.
After the service, Francis worked testing generators at General Electric, sold insurance for John Hancock Ins. Co. and worked at the Fitchburg Paper Co. from which he retired in 1985.
Being able to spend time and provide for his family was his greatest pleasure. He was a Little League coach and umpire. He loved to kid everyone with his quirky sayings and engage his children and grandchildren with stories, puzzles and songs.
He retired to Port Orange, FL where he was a member of the Daytona Beach CC, Horizon Church, Nursing Home Ministry and the choral group at Pickwick Village. He was a faithful husband and loving Grandpa who also enjoyed watching sports, playing cards, reading, golf, and walking.
He is survived by his children, Steven Tellier of Leominster, MA, Susan Gamache and husband, Roger of Sutton, MA, Jane Fischer and husband, Kevin of Port Orange, FL, and Peter Tellier and wife, Carmen of Plymouth, MA; as well as his eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was recently preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Lorraine Tellier who died 2/3/15.
He was also predeceased by his brothers, Raymond and Ernest, and sister, Clarice Gordon.
There will be a cremation with burial at a later date.
