- Roger E. Fafard 1930 - 2009 WEST SPRINGFIELD - Roger Emile Fafard, 78, died at home on Feb. 16th surround-ed by his loving family. He was born Nov. 29, 1930 in Sainte-Elisabeth-de-Warwick, Quebec to the late Napolean and Lucienne (Tousignant) Fafard. Roger grew up in Canada and moved to the United States at the age of 23. He was an US Army veteran of the Korean War, serving active duty in the 10th US Infantry. Roger settled with his family in West Springfield in 1963. He was a set-up man and machinist at Hamilton Standard for over 32 years. Upon retiring, he worked as a driver for Father's and Sons. Roger was predeceased by his wife of 42 years Aline (Gamache) Fafard in December of 1998. He was the loving father of Louise Sterling of Agawam., Richard Fafard and his wife Leora also of Agawam., and Linda Bengle and her husband Robert of W. Spfld. He also leaves his loving compani on Phyllis Colburn. Roger was the loving grandfather to Katharine, Julie and her fiancé Jerry, Ryan, Joseph, Kevin, Jessica and her husband Matthew, Jacob, Rebecca, and Matthew and cherished great grandfather to Jared, Taylor and Jasen. He leaves his 5 sisters Yvette of NY., Yolande, Denise, Therese, Pauline all of Canada and 2 brothers Guy and Michael also of Canada. He was predeceased by his sister Florence. Roger was avid fisherman and leaves his long time best friend and fellow fisherman, Donald Marra. Funeral services will be held FRI. 9 AM from the TOOMEY-O'BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 WESTFIELD ST, followed by a 10 AM Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Church, 475 Main St., W. Spfld. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery, Kings Highway, W. Spfld. Massachusetts.
