Romeo Gamache
4/21/1927-12/29/2016
Romeo (Rick) Gamache, Jr., passed away on December 29, 2016, following a wonderful week of Christmas celebrations with his family.
Romeo was born in Fall River, Massachusetts. His family moved to San Francisco when he was young. He attended St. Ignatius Catholic High School. Upon graduating, he joined the U.S. Navy and served during WWII, stationed in San Diego. Following the war, he married Freda Marie Byers, his childhood sweetheart. They were married for 62 years and traveled extensively around the world and in the USA. They raised their family in Millbrae and then moved to Auburn in 1982, following retirement.
Romeo was the Superintendent of Vehicle Maintenance for the U. S. Postal Service in San Francisco. He was also everyone's favorite mechanic and could fix anything.
He was involved in square dancing, traveled with an RV club, and enjoyed card games with friends. He was a quiet man of strong character, always generous and supportive.
Romeo is survived by his son, Edmund Gamache and wife, Sue; his daughter, Ann Linkugel and husband, Robert; grandchildren, Heidi Anderson (Brendon), Eric Linkugel (Maren), Melissa Gamache and Benjamin Gamache; great grandchildren, Kelsi Anderson, Drew Anderson, Cody Linkugel and Claire Linkugel; and by his brother, Paul Gamache and family.
A celebration of Romeo's life will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, 1115 Combie Road, Meadow Vista, on Saturday, January 28, 2017, at 12 noon. Memorial gifts can be made to the ASPCA or the Audubon Society.
Though he will be dearly missed, we are grateful he is in eternal peace with a gracious, loving God. - See more at: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/auburnjournal/obituary.aspx?n=romeo-gamache&pid=183680182&eid=sp_ommatch#sthash.dtHUZUZS.dpuf
