Died:
- Jacqueline C. Gamache Chartrand, 86, a resident of Dracut, passed away peacefully at Sunny Acres Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Chelmsford on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, after having bravely battled cancer. She was the beloved wife of David J. Chartrand Sr. with whom she recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.
She was born in Lowell on February 26, 1939, and was the daughter of the late Phylias and Eugenie Gamache.
Jacqueline was the youngest of four siblings and was educated in Lowell and graduated from St. Joesph's High School with the class of 1957. After working at Raytheon and meeting her husband to be, the newly married couple moved to Dracut and built their home. While at Raytheon they forged their friendship with lifelong friends Bob and Ruth Baillageron. She was a long-time communicant of the St. Marguerite D'Youville parish where she instilled her never wavering faith in God into her family. She was the proud parent of two children whom she spent the entirety of their early years caring for her home and family. Later in life, she returned to work at Piconics in Tyngsboro where she met many friends. She and David were long time members of the Town Travelers Square Dance Club where they met many lifelong friends which included Bill and Brenda Silva, Mary Bussiere, and Dolly Lareau. These meaningful friendships continued as many of the members of the group would spend many joyful winters at Outdoor Resorts in Kissimmee, FL.
She was the consummate memere and found no greater happiness than spending time with her grandchildren. She was lucky to have experienced many travel opportunities with her husband, when they visited Hawaii, Alaska, a cross country month long driving tour, and multiple cruises. Although she loved to travel, she was most happy in her home taking care of her family.
In addition to her loving husband, Jacqueline is survived by her son David and Faith Chartrand; her daughter Carolyn Iron Moccasin; her granddaughters Alicia Chartrand and Ronald Patterson, and Sierra and Kim Arpon; and her nieces and nephews, Paul and Rachel Gamache, Gerry and Denise Lacourse, Paul and Charlotte Lacourse, Jaqueline and Colin Sanford, and Priscilla and John Griffin. She also had her southern nieces and nephews, the children of Rita and Arthur Langevin. They include Rick, Kenny, Linda, Elaine, Steve, Johnny, Suzie, and Larry. She said she was blessed to have been able to experience the birth of her soon to be 2-year-old great granddaughter Emerson Patterson.
Sadly, she was predeceased by her brother Paul (Simone) Gamache; her sisters Lucinda (Charles) Merrill and Rita (Rosario) Lacourse; and her grandson Kyle Winn. The family would like to extend their extreme gratitude to the care provided by Monica, Angela, and Nancy.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday June 9, 2025, from 4 pm to 7 pm at DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Ave., DRACUT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at 9 am at St. Marguerite D'Youville, 1340 Lakeview Ave., DRACUT. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, CHELMSFORD.
