After his wartime service, Gordon worked in accounting for Associated Textiles of Canada in Louisville, Quebec, Business Administrator for the St, Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg 1949 to 1958; Commissioner and Chairman of the Manitoba Hospital Services Commission 1958 to 1965; first director of the Canadian Pension Plan, Ottawa, 1965 to 1968; and Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board, Edmonton General Hospital, 1968 to 1983.
