He was 92. No service is planned. He was born Aug. 18, 1918, in Bethlehem, Pa., to Claude and Mary Honadle Stokes. He married Myra Hickling on July 17, 1945, in Seattle. She died June 1, 2008. He attended schools in Vandergrift, Pa., and held a degree in home economics from Indiana University and a master's degree from San Francisco State. He served in the Coast Guard from 1942 to 1945. He worked as an administrator with the Oakland public school system in California for 30 years. Survivors include two sons, John of Yuba City, Calif., and Tim of Eugene; three sisters, Ida Misho of Vandergrift; Edna Boucher of Monaca, Pa., and Jeane Stroup of Langhome, Pa.; and five grandchildren. Burial will be at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. Arrangements by Poole-Larsen Funeral Home in Eugene.
