Stanley J. Skocelas Jr.
August 30, 1946 - January 8, 2018

Stan (Louie) Skocelas Jr., age 71 of Manistee, Michigan departed this world to eternal life on January 8, 2018 at Munson Medical center surrounded by family.
He was born August 30, 1946, in Manistee, the son of the late Stanley Sr. and Dorothy (Fredericksen) Skocelas. He married Mary (Marzie) Gamache on September 30, 1964 in Norfolk, VA. He attended St. Joseph School and was one of the first graduates of Manistee Catholic Central class of 1964. He enlisted in the United States Navy that same year and after completing his service in 1967 was employed at Packaging Corporation of America until 1972. He then worked for the Michigan Department of Corrections for one year until his appointment as a window / distribution clerk with the United States Postal Service in 1973; retiring in September of 2006 with 33 years of service. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter #43 and also a member of the Walsh Post #4499 Veterans of Foreign Wars both of Manistee.
He is survived by his loving wife Mary, one son, Robert Skocelas of Manistee; one daughter and son in-law; Dawn and Robert Farnsworth of Interlochen and two grandsons; Joshua Morley of Rapid City and Ryder Skocelas of Manistee.
Also surviving him are four brothers and one sister in-law; Jerome Skocelas of Gladwin, Richard Skocelas of Manistee, Allen Skocelas of Manistee and Gary and Polly Skocelas pf Arlington, TX, two sister and one brother in-law; Patricia and Hugh O?Hagan of Manistee and JoAnne Krause of Manistee, one aunt; Barbara Shoff and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
According to his wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee with Reverend Zeljko Guberovic officiating, following his memorial service the members of the Manistee County United Veterans Ritual Squad will present military honors, followed by a funeral luncheon at the St. Joseph Parish Center for family and friends. Stan?s family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday morning one hour prior to his memorial service at 11:00 AM.
Those wishing to remember Stan are asked to consider a memorial contribution to the ?Make a Wish Foundation? in lieu of flowers. Envelopes will be available at the Herbert Funeral Home, where arrangements have been made.
