JOSIAH BEARD, PIONEER HERE, IS SUMMONED
Conducted Blacksmith Shop For Many Years; Funeral On Sunday
Josiah Beard, 62, a resident of Iron Mountain for the past 40 years, died at 10:30 last night at home, 614 West C Street, following an illness which continued most of the winter. A severe hemorrhage was the direct cause of death.
Mr. Beard came to Iron Mountain in 1889 & shortly thereafter established a blacksmith shop. His hobby was dogs & he owned a number of them in his life.
Besides his widow, 2 daughters & a son survive: Mrs. William Laydon & Mrs. Leo Kesler, this city, Ray, address unknown; 3 grandchildren; 3 brothers: Thomas, England, Fred, Vulcan & Herbert, this city; 2 sisters, Edith & Maria Beard, England.
Interment will be in Cemetery Park.
