Deceased Name: Cindy Anne Benson Barlow
Our sweet mom Cindy Anne Benson Barlow went to heaven on Feb. 16, 2010 with her loved ones by her side. She passed away at Saints Medical Center in Lowell, Ma., after a long and brave battle with Huntington's Disease.
Cindy was born on Jan. 7, 1949 at Edwards Air Force Base in California to Cliff Benson and Myra Benson Brogger. She moved to Ashland, Ore. in 1973 and started working in the Shakespearean Festival Box Office. Cindy graduated from Southern Oregon University and received her bachelor of science in psychology in 1980. Cindy loved to work with children, and when she moved to Yreka in 1983, she began working at Siskiyou Childcare Center in Weed. The majority of her life was dedicated to educating herself, raising her two children, and helping children in need. She loved to spend time with her family and friends. Cindy will be missed greatly by all the people whose lives had been touched by her.
Survivors include her daughter Sonya Barlow Gamache and Chris of Yreka; her son Eric and Silvia Barlow of Eagle River, Alaska; her father Cliff Benson of Monterey, Calif.; her brothers, Steve and Anita Benson of Carmel, Calif., Pete Benson of Kona, Hawaii, Randy and Bonnie Freeman of Folsom, Calif., and Glenn Freeman of Prince of Wales, Alaska; her grandchildren, Christy, Marissa and Heather Rose Gamache of Weed and Yreka, and Eric Barlow Jr. of Eagle River, Alaska; her great-grandchild Mykensi Felice of Weed; her nieces, Jochele Benson and Lisa Benson, both of Monterey, Calif.; her nephews, Tonino Benson of Kona, Hawaii, Nathan and Darci Freeman of Cameron Park, Calif., and Michael and Julia Freeman of Folsom, Calif.; her great-nephew Michael Benson of Monterey, Calif.; and her great-niece Dana Freeman of Folsom, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her mother Myra Austin Benson Brogger.
Funeral arrangements are by Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home in Ashland, Ore. and will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at the Scenic Hills Memorial Park, 2585 E. Hills Dr. in Ashland.
