  [S5] Obituary. Richard E. Houle LUDLOW - Richard E. Houle, 63, of 134 Coolidge Ave., died Monday at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. He was a painting and decorating contractor with Houle & Sons Painting and Decorating for 20 years. He also worked in the painting department of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Co. of Springfield for 20 years and retired in 1995. Born in Ludlow, he lived in the Indian Orchard section of Springfield for 17 years and in this town for 46 years. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and served in the Air Force for four years. He was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church and a member of the former Franco-American Club in Indian Orchard. He leaves his wife, the former Betty A. Gamache; a son, Richard M. of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; two daughters, Laurie A. LaFrance of Foothill Ranch, Calif., and Mary A. Houle of Westfield; two brothers, Francis R. of East Granby, Conn., and Alfred B. Houle of the Feeding Hills section of Agawam; and a sister, Susan Beston of Ludlow. The funeral will be Thursday morning at Ratell Funeral Home and the church, with burial in Island Pond Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday afternoon and evening.
