1923 - 2006 On January 28, 2006, at his home, after a hard fight against illness and despite his desire to live, surrounded by the love of his family, Marcel left us in peace and serenity. He was 82 years old. He was married to Julia Hrynkiw and lived in Sainte-Foy. Born in Mont-Joli on April 13, 1923, he was the eldest son of the late Ernest LaRochelle and the late Gérardine Gamache, as well as the brother of the late Fernand LaRochelle. He was, among other things, one of the first stewards of the Carnaval de Québec (Montcalm), president of the Sillery/Sainte-Foy Kiwanis Club and founding member of the parish of Saint-Benoît. Officer and pilot-instructor during the Second World War (RCAF), he was an honorary member of the Citadelle of Quebec and was happy to invite members of his family, friends and clients. General Manager of Canada Packers Inc. for many years, broker in investment securities and life insurance, Marcel had the gift of succeeding in everything he undertook. His motto is that he often repeated "The early bird gets the worm!" He is survived by his wife Julia, his children: Richard, Jacques, Charles, Suzanne, Colette and Louise, as well as their spouse; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also leaves to mourn his sister Colette (Gérard Bessette), his brothers-in-law, Walter and Paul Hrynkiw, their family, as well as many relatives and friends. Special thanks to his daughter Louise and his son-in-law Martin for their exceptional dedication over the past five years. Warm thanks to Dr. Denys St-Pierre and Dr. Francine Barbeau, as well as to the benevolent team of the CLSC des Hautes-Marées for all the good care provided. He was entrusted to the Funeral Complex of Parc Commemoratif La Souvenance 301, rang Sainte-Anne, Quartier Laurentien, Sainte-Foy At the request of the deceased, there will be no exhibition or religious service in the immediate future. A liturgy of the word will be celebrated later, in the greatest intimacy, in the presence of his family.
