LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- Carl J. Rumpler, 76, of Lansingburgh, died Wednesday, May 7, 2003 at Valley Hospital, Las Vegas, Nev. after a brief illness. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Jacob Rumpler and Elly Andersen Rumpler and husband of Mary Jane Smith Rumpler of Lansingburgh. A longtime Lansingburgh and former Brunswick resident, he was a winter resident of Las Vegas for the past 15 years. He was a graduate of Lansingburgh High School. Mr. Rumpler was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran, serving 1944 to 1947. He was an electrician for Western Electric Co. in Albany for 37 years, retiring in 1983. After retirement, he worked for Hilltop Bowl in Speigletown. Carl especially enjoyed working at the Rumpler Tree Farm during the summers and well known for his vegetable garden and the produce that he shared with those that admired his efforts. He was a former member of the Speigletown Volunteer Fire Co., a former assistant scoutmaster with troop 679 in Speigletown, and standard-bred horse owner at Saratoga Raceway in Saratoga Springs. Carl will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all of his loving family and friends. Survivors, in addition to his wife, Mary Jane include his three sons, Kurt A. Rumpler (Karen) of Speigletown, Eric J. Rumpler of Troy and Todd M. Rumpler of Las Vegas; a stepdaughter, Susann Lutz of Las Vegas; a stepson, Robert (Donna) Kane of Long Island; four beloved grandchildren, Christie Gamache (Russell) of Brunswick, Christian Rumpler (Michele) of Orlando, Fla., Marc Rumpler (Tara) of Speigletown and Justin Rumpler of Brunswick; three step-grandchildren, Erika and Cody Lutz of Las Vegas and Robert M. Kane of Long Island; four adored great-grandchildren, Tyler Rumpler, Dylan Hess, Hayleigh Rumpler and Derek Gamache. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the McLoughlin & Mason Funeral Home, 109th St. and Third Avenue, Lansingburgh with Rev. Richard A. Scheu, officiating.
