ROBERT - Rene Norman, 79, of Oak Point in Middleboro died Monday, January 1, 2007 in the Mayo Clinic Hospital, Phoenix, AZ after a brief illness. Mr. Robert was formerly of North Attleboro for many years. He was the beloved husband of 55 years to Lucille (Lalancette) Robert. Survivors also include two daughters, Denise and her husband, Dennis Gamache of Scottsdale, AZ, and Michelle "Shelly" and her husband, Lou Horvath of Pembroke; grandchildren, Amy and Christopher Gamache of AZ and Zachary and Mikayla Horvath of Pembroke; a sister, Therese Blanchette of Pawtucket; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral will be held from the SPERRY & McHOUL FUNERAL HOME, 15 Grove St., North Attleboro on Monday, Jan. 8 at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Heart Church, Church Street, North Attleboro at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Attleboro Falls. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, Jan. 7, from 3-7 p.m. in the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home. Rene Norman Robert,79, of Oak Point in Middleboro died Monday,January 1, 2007 in the Mayo Clinic Hospital, Phoenix, AZ after a brief illness. He was the husband of 55 years to Lucille (Lalancette) Robert.
Born November 10, 1927 in Central Falls,RI, he was the son of the late Romeo and Mary (Petel) Robert. Rene grew up in Central Falls and was a graduate of Central Falls High School. After high school he served six months in the Merchant Marines before entering the Army during World War 11. After his honorable discharge, he graduated from Bryant College in Rhode Island with a degree in accounting in 1951.
Mr. Robert lived many years in North Attleboro while working in Plainville Savings bank as a branch manager and later Sentry Bank as treasurer until his retirement in 1987. Upon his retirement from the bank, he moved to New Hampshire and became co-owner of the Gorham Motor Inn in Gorham, New Hampshire and resided there for 9 years, later residing in Hyannis for 9 years.
Mr. Robert was involved in the Veteran's group at Oak Point in Middleboro and had previously belonged the the VFW in Hyannis. He was treasurer for L'Union St. Jean Baptiste in North Attleboro for many years and was a lifetime member of the BPOE in North Attleboro. He enjoyed bowling and on his last birthday scored his personal best score. Rene's greatest joy was his family for which he was very proud.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Denise and her husband, Dennis Gamache of Scottsdale, AZ and Michelle "Shelly" and her husband, Lou Horvath of Pembroke, MA; grandchildren, Amy and Christopher Gamache of AZ and Zachary and Mikayla Horvath of Pembroke; a sister, Therese Blanchette of Pawtucket, RI; several nieces and a nephew.
A funeral will be held from the SPERRY 7 McHOUL FUNERAL HOME, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro on Monday,January 8 a 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial in Sacred Heart Church, Church Street, North Attleboro at 10 o'clock. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, January 7 from 3-7 p.m. in Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home.
