LILLIAN Y. SLATTERY GAMACHE Lillian Yvonne (Chomard) Slattery Gamache, 96, of Hudson, died unexpectedly in her sleep at her home, early Tuesday morning, September 4, 2012. She was widow of James P. Slattery and Blaise E. Gamache. One of seven children, Lillian was born in Hudson on May 6, 1916, a daughter of the late Eustache J. and Lumina (Guilmain) Chomard. After attending schools in Hudson and Nashua, Lillian moved to New York City and worked for a time at the former Schrafft?s restaurant on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. While in New York City, Lillian met and later married James Slattery and they made their home in the Bronx, NY then Bridgeport, CT before relocating to Nashua. After Mr. Slattery?s death in 1959, Lillian worked at the former A & P supermarket and the former C.H. Avery furniture store while raising her family. Living a life faithful to God, Lillian was a communicant of St. Joseph Church and active in many church affairs including being a member of the Rosary Altar Society. For many years she sewed and knit clothing items for the Appalachian Christian Foundation, the needy children in New York City and the New Hampshire Veterans Home in Franklin, N.H. She also loved music and dancing. But her greatest enjoyment was her family to whom she was very dedicated and proud of. In 1981 Lillian married Blaise Gamache and they resided in Port Charlotte, Florida from 1983 until Mr. Gamache?s death in 1994. She was also predeceased by an infant son, Kenneth Slattery; and five sisters, Antoinette Couturier, Blanche M. Holmes, Cecile T. Caron, Jeannette G. LeBlanc and Fernande L. Wingate. Members of her family include her four children and their spouses, Ronald R. and Blanche Slattery of Port Charlotte, FL, James J. and Dale Slattery of Nashua, Kathleen A. and Richard Macomber of Rutland, MA and Kevin T. and Diane Slattery of Nashua; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Patricia and Bruce Edgecomb, Steven and Kelly Slattery, Rae and Daniel Tardif, Ivy Slattery and her partner James Salsbury, Christopher and Jennifer Macomber, Jeffrey Macomber, Jennifer Fafard, Jameson and Nicole Slattery and Jaron and Inga Slattery; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Rolande J. Duquette of Nashua; brothers-in-law, Ronald A. LeBlanc of Maine and Dearborn Wingate of Nashua; also many nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be held on Friday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Joseph The Worker Church, 777 West Hollis Street, Nashua, Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Edgewood Cemetery. Friends are invited to attend and will gather at the church.
