Frederick "Ted" E. Thibeau, 92
JAY - Frederick "Ted" E. Thibeau, 92, a resident of Jay, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 25, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Nov. 11, 1922, in Scarborough, the son of William and Celine (Arsenault) Thibeau. He was a graduate of Scarborough High School.
He served in the U.S. Army during WWII, landing on Iwo Jima, attached to the 5th Marine Division.
On Sept. 16, 1978, he married Barbara (Galuza) Babb, they later renewed their vows on April 12, 1997, at St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay.
Throughout the years, Ted worked doing body and fender repair, as a welder at the shipyard, and a superintendent for commercial welder's, working all over New England area. He later worked for Local 217, now known as Maine Plumbers and Pipefitters, UA Local 716. Ted was a life member of Frank L. Mitchell, VFW Post 3335 and Lane-Dube Amvets Post 33 in Jay; and Maine Plumbers and Pipefitters, UA Local 716 in Augusta.
He enjoyed playing the guitar, building folk art and cleverly worked with metal and wood, creating many items. He was a loving and devoted family man and friend and will be greatly missed by those that knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Barbara Thibeau of Jay; his son, Dennis Thibeau and his wife Anita of Saco, three daughters, Linda Manos and companion, Eddie of Windham, Susan Gamache and husband Mike of Old Orchard Beach, and Patty Wheeler and husband Paul of Greene, two stepsons, Mike Babb of East Livermore, and Scott Babb of Peru, and stepdaughter, Michelle "Mikie" Alexsuk and husband Keith of Brookville, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many great-great grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Patricia (Galuza) Knowlton and Wayne Knowlton of Livermore Falls. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Neil and Maynard, sisters, Bernice and Lorrett; and stepson, Robert Babb, Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 30, at St. Rose of Lima Church, 1 Church St., Jay. Interment with full military honors at Holy Cross Cemetery, 445 Park St., Livermore Falls. Arrangements by
