Deceased Name: Donna Holland
Donna M. Holland, 89, of Watertown, formerly of South Yarmouth, Mass., died surrounded by family on Friday, October 16, at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury. She was the widow of the Cornelius E. Holland.
Mrs. Holland was born in Bristol, on January 5, 1920, and was a daughter of the late Joseph J. and Mary (Casey) Gamache. She resided in Wolcott, on Cedar Lake, and subsequently on Cape Cod during her retirement years. She graduated from Saint Mary's School of Nursing in 1947 and worked as a Registered Nurse at Bradley Memorial Hospital, Southington for 38 years before retiring in 1986. In South Yarmouth, she belonged to St. Pius Church and served as lector and Eucharistic minister, in various positions on the Women's Guild and in other Church activities.
She is survived by three sons, Neil J. Holland, M.D., and Christopher S. Holland, M.D., both of Gaithersburg, Md. and Stephen T. Holland, M.D. of Watertown; a daughter, Denise A. Garafola of Wolcott; three daughters-in-law, Barbara Holland, Mira Holland and JoAnne Holland; a son-in-law, David Garafola; and 13 grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, October 19, at St. John the Evangelist Church, 574 Main Street, Watertown. Burial was conducted Tuesday, October 20, in the Bourne National Cemetery, Bourne, Mass.
